Duns Castle

Duns Castle

Piper Band at Duns Castle

Duns Castle was built around a 1320 Pele Tower given by King Robert The Bruce to the Earl of Moray, and is the seat of the Hay family. It was bought for William Hay of Drummelzier by his father The Earl of Tweedale in 1696, and the family have lived there in unbroken succession ever since. It's final Gothic Revival form was designed by the architect James Gillespie Graham between 1818-1822.

As a private home not open to the public, the castle enjoys a serenity and timelessness rare in the modern world.

This breathtaking Castle is set in complete seclusion, surrounded by beautiful woodland and lake.

The Oscar Nominated Movie 'Mrs Brown' was filmed here !
