Dundas
is a beautiful and historic castle located just eight miles from Edinburgh
and is the family home of Sir Jack and Lady Stewart-Clark.
The
castle was built in 1818 by the renowned Scottish architect William
Burn. Behind it stands an early 15th century keep. From its parapet
there is a spectacular view of the River Forth, the Pentland Hills and
the surrounding countryside.
Dundas
is set in a park of outstanding beauty. The grounds exclude extensive
lawns, long drives lined with rhododendrons, high crags and a lovely
loch which attracts much wild life all year round.
Sir
Jack and his wife have recently restored their family home to its former
glory. The spacious living rooms in the castle include a library, drawing
room, dining room, billiard room and large cloakroom. There are welcoming
log fires, comfy sofas and arm chairs. A full sized Bechstein piano
and top quality audio-video facilities provide for viewing and listening
enjoyment. The full sized billiard table will give after dinner pleasure.
The
'Auld Keep' has also been restored. The Great Hall, the Armoury and
the Stag Chamber are all ideal for private functions where an atmosphere
of history and romanticism are required.
